FAQ

Question:
Do you do mail order?

Answer:
Yes to Canada ONLY, most of my hosta have been purchased in the US so for my American customers let me know what you’re looking for and I will give you the name of my supplier.

Question:
How do I order from Hosta Fever?

Answer:
Send me an email of the hostas you would like to order, all orders are filled by the date they are received. I will take the hostas you have ordered out of my inventory and ship them as soon as our weather cooperate and the  hostas are ready,  No payment is due until I ship your order, I want to make sure I am happy with the product that is shipping before you pay.

Question:
What is the shipping cost?

Answer:
The shipping cost varies depending on the amount of hostas you order, how big the hostas are and where we are shipping too, so for that reason I charge exactly what Canada Post charges me. This is how it works; Once your order is ready and I am happy with the hostas, I charge your credit card the cost of the hostas ONLY. Once I ship them I then charge your credit card the exact shipping cost.

Question:
How do you mail the hostas?

Answer:

All hostas are sent bare rooted. I remove all the dirt, let them soak for 3-5 hours so they are well hydrated, wrap the roots in newspaper then wrap with plastic to keep moist. I wrap the foliage in newspaper to help with minimal damage. Each hosta is individually tagged so you know exactly what you are getting.

Question:
How long will it take to get my order?
Answer:
I mail all orders on Mondays via express post, depending where the hostas are going to they are usually received by the Friday if not sooner. For my customers out west it can take a whole week but the hostas can handle it.

Question;
What size of a plant will I receive?

Answer:

That all depends on the hosta; For newer introductions you usually receive a single division. For varieties that have been around for a while pots can have 2 or more divisions. Sale items can be 1 to 2 divisions. When we are pulling plants for your order we always pull the hosta that we would suggest to you if you were in the garden.

Question:
Are the hostas HVX free?

Answer:
We only purchase from suppliers that are testing their plants and taking an active roll in fighting this virus. We also  test everything that comes into the garden before its potted up and put out for sale, so the answer to this question 99.9% yes.

Question:
How do I know if my hosta has HVX?

Answer:

There is only one way of knowing, that is to test it. Many times I have looked at a hosta and had my heart stop thinking it looked virused. If a plant has had frost damage or cold damage it could show signs that are similar to HVX, so by testing them with the test strips you will be 100% on way or another.

Question:
My hosta has HVX how to I cure it?

Answer:
Once you are 100% sure and have tested it, it’s simple, dig it up and throw it in the garbage. There is no cure for HVX and you need to remove it from your garden so your other hostas won’t be affected by it.
